Patrol Functions and Scheduling

The patrol function is carried out by four shifts, each commanded by a Sergeant. The patrol shifts are responsible for all line functions including responding to calls for service, patrol, initial, and follow-up investigations, as well as assisting with crime prevention and community policing.

Working Hours for Patrol Officers

  • 12 hours patrol shifts
    (6 a.m. to 6 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.)
  • 3 days work 4 days off then 4 days work and 3 days off
  • Each shift gets half of the weekends off
  • 14 days worked per month
  • 84 hours worked per pay period

  • Patrol Salary Range is $52,802 to $65,942 per year
