Lieutenant Dave Garrison
Lieutenant Garrison has over 22 years in Law Enforcement. Lieutenant Garrison started his Law Enforcement career with the United States Air Force Security Forces in 1996. In 1999, he joined the Winnemucca Police Department as a patrol officer. Lieutenant Garrison has extensive experience in most of the specialized assignments that the Winnemucca Police Department has to offer. He has served as a lead advisor to the former Police Explorer program, a member of the WPD bicycle patrol, a member of the WPD mounted patrol, a member of the WPD Honor Guard, a swat team operator and later the swat team leader. Lieutenant Garrison is a certified defensive tactics instructor, a certified impact weapons instructor, a less lethal munitions instructor, a certified background investigator, field-training officer, and a former Taser instructor.
Lieutenant Garrison served in the WPD Investigations Division as a detective and later supervised the unit as Detective Sergeant. In June of 2010, Lieutenant Garrison promoted to the rank of Sergeant with the Winnemucca Police Department. In this capacity, he served as a first line supervisor and was responsible for managing the day to day operations on his assigned shift.
In his current assignment, Lieutenant Garrison is responsible for the daily operations of the patrol division of the Winnemucca Police Department. Lieutenant Garrison also leads the Reserve Officer Program, is responsible for the recruitment of new officers, supervises the Winnemucca City Animal Control Shelter, and is one of two Team Commanders of the Tri-County Special Response Team.
